House Rules and detailed information for use during your stay.
- Heating- As we are off the gas network grid all of the heating and hot water is run by electric. The cottage has radiators in each room that are controlled by the thermostats you will see in each room. They are set to maintain the rooms at a comfortable temperate and will kick in if the room temp drops. Please leave the settings of these as they are as this will ensure the rooms are warm and that we are as energy efficient as we can be. The living room is extra cosy with the log burner which we supply a small amount of kindling, fire lighters and logs to make your first fire. These are in the cupboard to the right side of the fireplace. Any further logs and fuel for the fire is to be bought by yourselves. We can provide details of local suppliers if you wish.
- Please use the heavy-duty red glove when opening or adjusting the log burner as the stove gets extremely hot.
- Please do not cover the radiators with anything as this presents a fire risk. There is an airer for drying wet clothing located in the large dining area cupboard.
- Hot Water- The hot water is heated by an immersion which is situated in a cupboard in the second bedroom. Again, this is on a timer and will come on in the morning and evening to provide hot water for the bath and washing. The timer can be overridden if you need an extra boost, but we would ask that this is used sparingly. We strive to keep our costs reasonable and energy usage is a big part of that so please help us to keep our running costs down so we can pass on the savings to yourselves and keep our prices as competitive as possible.
- The tank is a large family sized one so there should be enough hot water for your needs during your stay. Please note as the water comes from a tank it can take a while to come through compared to some instant heat systems.
- The shower is a new addition to the cottage and is operated by first pulling the pull switch near to the sink and then turning the unit on at the shower panel itself. Please ensure the curtain is inside the bath when showering.
- Kitchen- The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need during your stay including a dishwasher, limited supply of tablets, washing machine and liquid and softener, cutlery and crockery, glass ware and cookware. Please let us know of we have missed anything, and we will include it in the future.
- There is a fire blanket and extinguisher located in the large cupboard in the kitchen. There is also an iron, ironing board and clothes airer located in there.
- We are dog friendly and have provided your 4-legged friends with a hook for their lead and complementary dog treats. We do however operate a “paws on floors” policy so please keep your fury companion off the furniture and beds.
- Inside the front door there is a tray to be used for your muddy boots please.
Please note the cooker has an induction hob and will not heat up unless a pan is in contact with the cooking surface.
- Wifi- The cottage has a speedy Wi-Fi
- connection and can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the picture in the living room on the bookshelf. Alternatively, the network is SKYEL5S. Password ZnIrca54Z6v3.
- TV- The TV is equipped with a Chrome Cast which is linked to the Wi-Fi which means the TV is capable of playing content from any app that you have on your phone or tablet such as YouTube, Netflix. I player etc. Choose source on the remote and HDMI. The cast is called living room. Once that is selected then you can cast content to the TV using the cast icon on the relevant app.
- Music- There is a small Anker Bluetooth speaker located on the bookshelf in the living room for you to use during your stay. Its only small but gives around 24 hours of play back and has great sound quality. Just look for it on your devices blue tooth menu.
- Bedrooms- The front bedroom has a king size bed and the rear bedroom a double. Both have brand new Otty memory foam and pocket spring mattresses. We have invested in quality beds, mattresses, and bedding as we know how important a good night's sleep is. We have provided bath and hand towels for guests and there are drawers and hanging spaces with coat hangers. There is extra hanging space in the dining room cupboards if required as hanging space is limited in the rear bedroom. Please note there are some blinds in the cottage that have long pull chords on them.
Please let us know during your stay if you require the beds changing or any extra sets of bedding or towels.
- Loft space- This is a separate chill out area accessed through the door in the second bedroom. Please note although the area has been laid out for guests to use access is via a steep ladder so, please use caution and ensure that children are always supervised up there. Also, there is a day bed up there for you to use however under no circumstances should this space be used as a bedroom as it does not meet fire regulations and has no viable means of escape if there was a fire.
- In the loft space there is a PS4 which is already to use. All we would ask is that existing PSN users log into their existing accounts to get the full use of the console.
- Garden- We have a lovely, secluded garden here at the cottage which is your space to use during your stay. There is a patio and deck area and we provide garden furniture during the warmer months. There is also a lockable shed that can be used to store cycles etc upon request. Please note however that due to the age and design of the cottages we have a shared access at the back which means our neighbours have a right of access through our property. This is only for access and therefore they should not disturb you or remain longer in the garden other than to pass through to the neighbouring cottage.
The garden is lovely sunny south facing space and has a magnificent view of the church tower. Please enjoy 😊
Smoking- The cottage is no smoking or vaping throughout however we do allow smoking/vaping at the bottom end of the garden near the shed. Please only use this area to smoke.
- Recycling- We have tried to keep our environmental impact to a minimum here at Lychgate View. We have used recycled or repurposed materials where possible as we want to protect the environment for future generations. While you are our guests, we would like to encourage you to do the same. We have supplied a compost caddy and liners in the kitchen for you to use. Any full liners need to go in the brown bin. General waste goes in the green bin and mixed recyclables go in the blue bin such as glass, card, recyclable plastics etc.
- Breakages- We appreciate accidents do happen so please let us know if anything gets broken during your stay so we can either replace it or have it repaired. Please note any malicious or intentional damage will have to be paid for by yourselves. If you have booked with Airbnb then we have air cover for the protection of all.
- EV Charging- We do not allow electric vehicle charging via the 13-amp sockets at the cottage. This is due to the electric capacity not being able to support such demand and our insurance does not cover it as a result. The nearest EV charge point is at Maple Garage, Sproately and is free. There are also EV charging points at Tesco, Hornsea and Hornsea Leisure centre. In an emergency we have a 7KV point at our home address which you can use via request. Charging is available at a cost of £2 per hour.
Thank you.
